THE UNITED PROGRESSIVE PENTECOSTAL CHURCH FELLOWSHIP THE GENERAL CHURCH MOTHERS BOARD: NATIONAL AND LOCAL LEVEL
The role of the church mother in the UPPC is one of unique and special importance. Due to the great void of supportive parental care and presence with many in our fellowship, saintly-seasoned, and supportive mothers are highly revered and affirmed within the UPPC.
The Church mother within the UPPC holds a special and dear position locally and nationally. The Church mother doesn’t have to be the literal mother of the Pastor etc... She is a seasoned woman who has commited herself to the care, nuture and love of God’s people, specifically in the UPPC. She provide liturgical and practical support and guidance, first for the Senior Pastor.
By virtue of their experience and age, Mother’s in UPPC will function as spiritual leaders without submitting to the rigors of general trainings and examinations . They are encouraged to assist National and local leadership in any designated or delegated responsibilities regarding but not limited to; Holy Communion, Water Baptism, Baby Blessings, Foot Washing services and any or all other Christian ordinances. Their duties also include but are not limited to the following:
1. Assisting Elder’s and Deacons with maintaining the proper ambiance of worship in and around the sanctuary of God. This includes prayer, worship, cleaning, caring, visitation and helping to establish order in the Church.
2. Expressing hospitality within the local Church to ensure that guests, especially from another church/ministry are treated with grace and dignity. 3. caring for benevolent saints who are connected to the local church assembly; new mothers, saints in the hospital, homebound elders, recovering saints, and the visitation of prisoners connected to the local assembly. 4. Caring for the orphan and/or bereaving family that is connected to the local assembly. The orphan of the local assembly should always have a safe place to sleep/live, she or he should have ample and nutritious food to eat, and clothes should never be a problem for them. The bereaving family should never have to worry about these same basic needs in their time of transition. Once these needs are met sufficiently (as the pastor deems appropriate) the Mothers board is released to serve other needs within the local Church.
The ultimate goal of all Mothers within UPPC is to assist, the Diaconate ministry of the local Church in meeting the needs of the people in the pew so that God’s Word from the pulpit may have free flow in the hearts of people without hindrance or hesitation.
